Substitute Teacher Professional Development

In accordance with the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and in order to continue to maintain compliance with CTC Regulations, Sutter County Superintendent of Schools will be announcing the 2019-20 schedule of courses for the issuance of the Teaching Permit for Statutory Leave for substitute teachers.

The TPSL program consists of eight courses offered at the Foundational, Intermediate and Proficient Level. Each level meets the 45-hour requirement set forth by CTC. In addition, completion of all levels of classes (135 hours) satisfies the pre-course requirements for eligibility for enrollment in a teacher intern program.

The preparation requirements for the first three issuances of the TPSL permit include 45 hours of focused preparation to prepare the permit holder for service as the interim teacher of record beyond 20 or 30 days.

This preparation must be completed in 45 hour increments prior to the LEA’s submission of an application.
